The tide is drawing me in –
In, into the foaming, romping waves,
Into the glittering mystery,
Into the turquoise tease,
Into the music of the mermaids,
Into the golden end of the world.
The tide is always drawing me in.
It never casts me out.
My name is Ali Renckens and I am a dedicated runner (read: obsessive), die-hard Tampa Bay Rays baseball fan, life-long Florida girl (it’s a state of mind), and a floating shift.
What exactly is a floating shift? That’s the point; it’s a bit of a mystery. (You can read about it here.) To me, it represents floating through life, capitalizing on the little things that make life interesting. And that could mean almost anything. It’s full of promise, but random and unpredictable. Like me. Or, at least, my writing, which consists of real talk about life, poems, and short stories.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, it’s almost bedtime.
